About Us

Introducing Megumi & Richard Megumi discovered Sivananda Yoga in 2007 during a transformative trip to India. After returning to Japan, she earned her RYT200 certification with the National Yoga Alliance and completed specialised training in Yoga Beauty and Maternity & Senior Yoga. She began teaching in Japan before moving to Malaysia in 2010, where she shared her practice with a diverse community. Today, Megumi guides students of all ages in mindful movement and holistic well-being, helping them connect with their bodies, minds, and inner balance. Richard first studied Iyengar Yoga in Bali – his home for over sixteen years – and dedicated nine years to deepening his personal practice. In 2007, having resettled in Malaysia, he started teaching basic yoga postures to his ageing football teammates, noticing how stiff the players were. This inspired him to develop a simple, accessible program that introduces yoga in a clear, approachable way, focusing on foundational practices. In 2011, Richard began Vipassana meditation, and in recent years he has incorporated breathwork into both his personal routine and teaching. He blends stretching, movement, mindfulness, and breath, making yoga attainable for everyone — no matter their age or experience. Megumi and Richard decided 2025 was a good time for a new challenge, and relocated from Malaysia’s Penang island to Japan’s Okinawa. Nanjo is their new heart and home.

What We Offer ...

Classes

We teach a wide range of yoga styles, blending elements of Pilates, dynamic and animal movement, breathwork, and mindfulness. We also offer specialised sessions including wheel yoga, SUP yoga, and dedicated breathwork classes. Introductory classes will begin soon, with our full schedule launching in mid-January 2026. We’ll start with beginners yoga, designed for those new to practice yet equally valuable—and suitably challenging—for anyone with prior experience who enjoys a foundational level. No two classes are ever the same. As interest grows, we’ll introduce intermediate-level sessions to match the needs of our students. Above all, our classes are meant to be fun—we want you to leave each one feeling lighter, brighter, and smiling.

Retreats

Our retreats are intentionally intimate, with small groups of four to eight participants—the ideal size for depth, connection, and personal attention. Each retreat includes yoga, guided meditation, breathwork, and quiet time in nature. Meals are healthy and nourishing, and digital time is limited, allowing you to fully disconnect and reset. There are opportunities for group discussions, one-to-one consultations, and ongoing mentoring. When participants already know each other, we can create a custom retreat shaped around your shared intentions and interests. We’re flexible in format, though the minimum commitment is two days and one night—for example, Saturday morning to Sunday evening. Longer three-day, two-night retreats (such as Friday to Sunday) offer a deeper, more expansive experience—time to go further, higher, and more inward.
